Located in Ironville, a small and beautiful village in Derbyshire, 1538 was inspired by the local Iron Works, 1538° as being the temperature at which pure iron melts.
1538° as a symbol that no matter the background, experience, or social status, we all belong in the same community, just like melting a bunch of different objects made of iron into a melting pot.
We aim to inspire hope and foster a more profound sense of connection through community projects.

All of our directors are Christians committed to local churches, and we run 1538 on the Christian principles of loving our neighbour as ourselves.
We believe that God has made all people in His image. That means all human life is one-off and special and is worthy and of great value. We believe that ultimate hope, joy and peace in life can only be found in Jesus. The Son of God who died for the sins of the world, to regain a relationship with God that was tragically lost by our wrongdoing against Him. We therefore make it our mission to not only give aid packages, but to share this amazing good news as much as we can.
Community
We believe we share the responsibility to support one another in our communities. To create change, we must work together for a fairer society that want to put others first. Whatever the race, whatever the faith, whatever the age what ever the circumstances. We want to LOVE our neighbours as ourselves. (Leviticus 19:18)
Compassion
We stand in solidarity with people that are in need. We always uphold and protect people’s dignity.
Justice We are motivated by a desire to see a more just society. No one should be facing hunger and poverty. It is right that everyone should have enough income to afford the essentials/basics.
Dignity We recognise the innate value of each individual person and seek to prioritise the other person’s needs and concerns in the spirit of mutuality and friendship. Regardless of background, belief, faith or no faith.
Whilst we are unashamedly a Christian organisation, 1538 exists for the benefit of everyone, regardless of race, gender, sexuality or religion.
1538 partners with local churches as well as outside the church. Anyone with a heart for people and serving others is more than welcome to come along and help out where they can! If that's you, we would love to hear from you.
